Wet Field

Hey All,

I just got an update from Lou,

Hi Rico
Was the field today to cut , The field was closed so I walk in. The field is floating,  very wet in the back corner with a few puddles. Talked  to Gayman and he is  upset about members coming in right after it has rained. As I said the field will take at least a week to dry out.
I don't know when Gayman wiil open the field. It would be a good idea to post this on the web site

July Meeting

I and a bunch of others are going to come out early and put some planes in the air.

Given the field status (unable to be mowed in a week, very wet, high potential for getting stuck), would you like for me to send an email to the membership suggesting they do not visit the field until at least mid next week?

I agree!  With all the rain that we've had Please stay off the field this weekend until it has a chance to drain. Acording to Joe we have standing water in the middle of the field and even in the areas that we have gravel like the road and parking lot it is now soft mud!

BCRC Picnic Postponed AGAIN!

I had a request from Chef Steve that we cancel the picnic again for Sunday May 22nd. I am going to have to agree with him. With all this rain that we have had and are going to get this week we'll end up getting everyone stick up to their axels. 

 

So Please call everyone that does not have e-mail and tell them the picnic is postponed.

 

We'll work on the new date at the next meeting.

Looks like we are going have the Spring Picnic, Sunday May 15, 2011 11am at the Field.

Plan on bringing a plane to fly or to show.

Flea Market and Pictures

Thanks to all who made the 2011 BCRC Flea Market a Success!

 

Many thanks to the vendors, all the members who helped set up and tear down and thanks for all the people who came!

 

There are new pictures in the Gallery of the Flea Market and the Location Pole work party.

Location Poles now installed

 

Thanks to all on in the work party on Sunday to install the location poles. Now when your plane goes down over the field you might get an idea where to search.  Field was in great condition and lots of planes in the air. A good time was had by all Sunday! 

 

Come on out to the field and start flying! Just remember the 5mph road limit!

The FAA is developing new regulations that may place onerous and unnecessary restrictions on the hobby, sport and educational pursuit of model aviation.

It is extremely important that all aeromodeling enthusiasts stand up and tell congress to protect model aviation from pending federal regulation by the FAA.

 

I have included a link to the AMA website. All you have to do is put in your zipcode and fill out the form. It will send a letter to your represenatives in Washington.

To My Fellow RC Enthusiasts,

    After reading "In The Air" in the February 2011 edition of Model Aviation, I decided to write you all this letter.  Please share it with your membership at your next monthly meeting. 

    Our world seems to become more and more paranoid with each passing day and sometimes with good reason.  On page 9 of the February 2011 Model Aviation, the excerpts of a discussion between AMA Pres. Dave Matthewson and the FAA Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, Peggy Gilligan were printed.  They spoke of the proposed regulations for small Unmanned Aircraft Systems and, more importantly, its potential impact on model aviation.  Before I go any further, I want it understood that the feelings and views expressed are mine alone and are not endorsed by the AMA in any way.  However, please note that the expression on that woman's face says to me she couldn't care less about the views and concerns of the model aviation industry and its enthusiasts.  Furthermore, if you read the article and between the lines (which I hope you have), she is saying our input will have no impact on the FAA's decisions and that we will have to comply with whatever changes are coming or find a new hobby. I applaud Dave Matthewson for being able to maintain his professionalism during this interview.

    My message to all RC enthusiasts is the same as it's always been.  The AMA is putting up the good fight to protect our hobby but we also must do our part in this battle.  Walt Kelly once said "We have seen the enemy and he is us"!  In other words, we are our own worst enemies.  We are all human and everyone makes mistakes but to blatantly circumvent your club rules and the rules of the AMA seems like attempted suicide to me.  This also impedes the AMA's ability to fight the good fight and helps the other side in its efforts to point fingers.  What's my point?  Follow the rules and regulations of your club and the AMA to the letter.  The sharks are circling so don't give them anything to bite at!  Let's band together, do the right thing, and protect our hobby!  As I said before, these are my views alone and I hope you all agree.  Anyone who doesn't should probably do two things; get an eye exam and find a new hobby as this one is under attack and will be gone before too long if we don't do something about it right now.  In the words of Klatu, "We Will Be Waiting For Your Answer".
